The Bureau of Land Managements Oregon/Washington State Office released a new vintage-style poster and postcards of Steens Mountain for Earth Day 2016. The posters and postcards will be available to the public at no cost from all BLM offices and public rooms throughout Oregon and Washington. "An area as special as southeast Oregons Steens Mountain deserves an equally special commemoration like this beautiful vintage poster. The Steens Mountain and its high desert surroundings is one of the crown jewels of Oregon wildlands. Conservation efforts here are an example of successful cooperative conservation efforts. said acting Oregon/Washington BLM State Director Jamie Connell.
The Bureau of Land Managements National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board will meet for three days in September in Arlington, Virginia, to discuss issues relating to the management, protection, and control of wild horses and burros on Western public rangelands. The meeting, which will focus on the June 2013 report by the National Academy of Sciences (titled Using Science to Improve the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program: A Way Forward), will take place on Monday, Sept. 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to noon local time.
The Bureau of Land Managements (BLM) San Juan Islands National Monument Advisory Committee (MAC) will hold three separate meetings over the next month. The meetings are open to the public. At each meeting, at 3:45 p.m., members of the public will have the opportunity to make comments to the MAC during a one-hour public comment period.

The Bureau of Land Management, Vale District Office, announced today that public use restrictions will take effect immediately. These restrictions apply to all public lands: administered by the Vale District BLM and project lands under the jurisdiction of Bureau of Reclamation within Malheur and Jordan Resource Areas; all BLM and project managed lands in the Vale District within one statute mile from the Snake River, beginning at Farewell Bend Oregon downstream to Fisher Gulch in Asotin County Washington; and BLM lands located within one statute mile of the Wallowa River and the Grande Ronde River beginning at Minam, Oregon downstream to the confluence of the Snake River.

The Bureau of Land Management, in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for visitors to the National System of Public Lands for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Jan. 20), Presidents' Day weekend (Feb. 15-Feb 17), National Public Lands Day (Sept. 27), and Veterans Day (Nov. 11) in 2014.
