Fire crews from the Burns Interagency Fire Zone (BIFZ) expect to complete several thousand acres of slash-pile burning at numerous locations across Harney County over the next two months. General areas where piles will be burned include: south of Snow Mountain, French Spring, Buck Spring, Nicoll Ridge, Cooper Creek, Silvies Canyon, and Myrtle Creek. If weather conditions allow, BIFZ firefighters may also complete some under burning in the forest lands near Rattlesnake Creek.

Officials say, if weather permits, they will start the fall projects on September 26 with a 3-day, large-scale burn in the Five Creeks Rangeland Restoration Project area south of Diamond.
