Gospel: Mark 13:33-37 Just as a servant watching over the master’s house does not know when he will return, we do not know the hour of the Second Coming Mark reminds us of the warning from Jesus to always be on guard, for we know not the day nor the hour. “Jesus said to his disciples: “be constantly on the watch! Stay awake! You do not know when the appointed time will come. It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own task; and he orders the man at the gate to watch with a sharp eye.” The church needs ministers at worship, teachers as catechists, sponsors for RCIA candidates. The church needs models for our youth, and support for our aging and homebound. Who is ready to respond to these needs? Advent offers a new beginning. Are you ready? His coming today is what is all important. Around the Diocese March for Life 2015 The March For Life will be held in Washington DC on Thursday, January 22, 2015. The theme for this year’s march is EVERY LIFE IS A GIFT! We will again be joining with neighboring parishes in riding the bus to Washington DC in support of God’s greatest fight to us all; life. In Washington we will join with people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds who fight for the rights of the unborn. Buses bring young people from all over the country, traveling for hours and their enthusiasm and energy are contagious! A new season of grace begins, advent, when we remember the first coming of Christ, anticipate His future coming and discern His presence among us today. The image of the traveler found in the person of Jesus is so appropriate. The bus will arrive at St. Peters, 403 Forman Ave., Pt Pleasant Beach at 6:45AM and depart at 7 sharp. We will arrive in Washington a approximately 11AM. You are then able to go on your own or stay with the group as we hear the speakers, then proceed on the march. The bus will depart at 4PM and stop at Cactus Willies Buffet for dinner on your own, arriving back at St. Peters about 10PM. We have been given our personal, as well as collective tasks. He has placed certain responsibilities in our hands. As disciples we are called to be faithful followers, stellar examples as parents, responsible members of His flock and enthusiastic in the practice of our faith. Cost is $10.00 payable to St. Peters. Call Ellen Conaghan at 732-899-7322 to reserve a seat. Please respond ASAP but by 12/30 at the latest. A person on watch is there to provide safety from danger, but also to seize opportunities to serve. How many needs can be answered, Bring lunch, snacks and dress warmly for a cold day out. We go rain or shine. We ask that you also be able to walk and stand as there is no easy way out of the march once it begins. Quiet by the Fireside December 10; this evening will provide the busy person an opportunity to contemplate Jesus, the Incarnate Word, through reflection in a quiet and prayerful environment. The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death. 561 Herbertsville Road AVAILABLE Charles P. Tivenan NOW!
