∆ελτίο Τύπου Embargoed 16 Μαρτίου 2014 Ο ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ ενηµερώνει για τον καρκίνο του παχέος εντέρου. Στα πλαίσια του προγράµµατος του ‘Μαζί στην πρόληψη, µαζί στη ζωή’ για έλεγχο και έγκαιρη διάγνωση του καρκίνου του παχέος εντέρου, ο Παγκύπριος Σύνδεσµος Καρκινοπαθών και Φίλων (ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ) εντείνει αυτό το µήνα την ενηµέρωση του κοινού µε αφορµή τον Μάρτη ως τον Παγκόσµιο Μήνα Πρόληψης κατά του Καρκίνου του Παχέος εντέρου. Το πρόγραµµα του ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ λειτουργεί από το 2007 και υποστηρίζεται από την Γαστρεντερολογική Εταιρεία Κύπρου, την Χειρουργική Εταιρεία Κύπρου και την Ογκολογική Εταιρεία Κύπρου. Στόχος του προγράµµατος είναι όπως µέσω της διαφώτισης, της λειτουργίας και της θετικής ανταπόκρισης του κοινού στο τρέχον Πληθυσµιακό Πρόγραµµα του Υπουργείου Υγείας και σε άλλων συνεργειών, να υπάρξει µείωση των θανάτων από τον καρκίνο του παχέος εντέρου κατά 20% µέχρι το 2020. Στην Κύπρο, σύµφωνα µε το αρχείο καρκίνου, ο καρκίνος του παχέος εντέρου είναι ο δεύτερος καρκίνος σε άνδρες και γυναίκες. Κάθε χρόνο διαγνώσκονται 300 νέα περιστατικά και 120 άτοµα χάνουν τη ζωή τους. Με την κατάλληλη πρόληψη και έγκαιρη διάγνωση θα µπορούσαν να προλάβουν τον καρκίνο καθώς και να σωθούν. Ο ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ είναι στη διάθεση του κοινού για ενηµερωτικό υλικό καθώς και για τη διευθέτηση διαλέξεων και παρουσιάσεων σε Οργανισµούς, Εταιρείες, Κοινότητες ∆ήµους και Οργανωµένα Σύνολα. Κατά τη διάρκεια του µήνα το κοινό µπορεί επίσης να προµηθευτεί από τον ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ την καρφιτσούλα ‘Μπλε Αστέρι’, το παγκόσµιο σύµβολο του καρκίνου του παχέος εντέρου και να συµβάλει στην προαγωγή της υγείας ενδυναµώνοντας την ενηµέρωση για τον καρκίνο αυτό.
