するように言う

3-12 「∼に…するように言う、頼む」の文…間接命令の文
（１）「(相手)∼(ある動作)…をするように言う、頼む」の文には to 不定詞を使う
この文の形は本動詞に ask「∼するように頼む」・tell「∼するように言う」・want「∼
してもらいたい」のどれか→命令を受ける相手（目的格）→to 不定詞（相手がする動作）になる。
とてもよく出る文だが、見抜きにくい。

（２）会話文が命令文の場合…ask / tell / want+相手+to 不定詞
A say(said) to B, “∼.” で、会話文が命令文の場合は tell、please がある場合は ask 、
if you are free とか、if∼, I am happy.などの表現があれば、要請として want、を使い分
ける。次に B を相手にして命令内容を to 不定詞に変える。例えば『私は「ケン、ペンキ
を塗りなさい」と言った』を『私はケンにペンキを塗るように言った』になる。
《設例 2》和訳も微妙に違うので注意。
◇頼んでいる場合「∼するように頼んだ」: please があるなら ask にする。
